QURKI Privacy Notice

QURKI Limited (QURKI, we, us) respects your privacy. This notice explains what personal information QURKI collects through qurki.com, email correspondence and QURKI email subscriptions, why it is used, who helps us process it, and the choices available to you.

Information QURKI collects

QURKI may collect:

  • information you provide when you contact QURKI, such as your name, email address, organisation, message and any material you choose to send;
  • your email address and subscription records when you ask to receive QURKI updates;
  • records needed to administer email consent and delivery, including when and where a subscription request was made, the version of the consent wording shown, confirmation and unsubscribe dates, and whether an address is pending, confirmed, unsubscribed, bounced, complained or suppressed;
  • aggregate website-use information, such as pages viewed, referral source, device type, browser and country-level location; and
  • limited technical and security information processed when the website or its services are accessed, such as request and delivery logs.

Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary and an appropriate way to share it has been agreed with QURKI.

How QURKI uses personal information

QURKI uses personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries and manage any resulting professional relationship;
  • keep appropriate business and correspondence records;
  • operate, protect and improve qurki.com;
  • understand, in aggregate, whether the website is useful;
  • confirm subscription requests and send QURKI Signals and occasional related updates that a subscriber has asked to receive;
  • manage delivery, unsubscribe requests, bounces, complaints and suppression; and
  • meet legal obligations and protect QURKI’s rights and systems.

QURKI does not sell or rent personal information, use it for behavioural advertising, or give other organisations permission to market their products or services to QURKI subscribers.

Email subscriptions

Subscription consent is given to QURKI, not to its email-delivery provider.

QURKI uses double opt-in. After someone submits the subscription form, QURKI sends a confirmation message. The address does not become eligible for ordinary QURKI updates unless the confirmation link is used. If the request was not made by you, you can ignore the confirmation message.

QURKI does not publish to a weekly schedule. Subscribers will hear when a new Signal is published and may receive an occasional material update related to QURKI’s work.

Every non-confirmation email includes a clear unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing does not require signing in. Once an address is unsubscribed, bounced, associated with a complaint or otherwise suppressed, QURKI will exclude it from later subscription mail unless the person makes a valid new request that can lawfully be honoured.

QURKI may keep a minimal consent and suppression record after an unsubscribe or delivery problem. This is necessary to demonstrate how the address entered the list and to prevent mail being sent when it should not be.

Website analytics

QURKI uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate website use. QURKI does not use Google Analytics, behavioural advertising trackers or analytics cookies at launch.

Analytics information is used to understand matters such as which pages are visited and how the site performs. It is not used by QURKI to build advertising profiles about individual visitors.

Service providers and overseas processing

QURKI uses a small number of service providers to operate its website and communications:

  • Microsoft 365 processes email correspondence and related business records;
  • Vercel hosts qurki.com, provides website infrastructure and supplies aggregate web analytics; and
  • Resend provides the technical delivery of website contact messages, confirmation messages and QURKI subscription email.

These providers process information for QURKI under their own security, privacy and contractual arrangements. Some information may be processed or stored outside New Zealand. QURKI selects and configures providers with regard to the nature of the information and the protections they offer.

QURKI may also disclose information where required by law, or where reasonably necessary to protect QURKI, another person, or the security and integrity of its services.

Retention

QURKI keeps personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, to meet legal and business-record obligations, or to resolve a dispute.

Correspondence and professional records are retained for an appropriate business or legal period. Active subscriber information is retained while the subscription remains active. After unsubscribe, bounce, complaint or suppression, QURKI may retain only the information needed to honour that status and maintain an accurate consent record.

Security

QURKI takes reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure. No internet or email service is completely risk-free. If a privacy breach creates a risk of serious harm, QURKI will respond and make any notifications required by New Zealand law.

Your choices and rights

You may:

  • unsubscribe from QURKI email at any time using the link in an email;
  • ask whether QURKI holds personal information about you;
  • request access to that information; and
  • ask QURKI to correct information that is inaccurate.

To make a request, ask a question or raise a privacy concern, email hello@qurki.com. QURKI may need to verify your identity before providing or changing personal information.

If a privacy concern is not resolved, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
